Exploring Clay with Elaine Rowgo
Beginner to advanced students. Projects will involve hand building, using either a slab roller, extruder or handwork combinations. Also, lessons include the use of the wheels. You will be taught projects to get started, and then you are also free to develop more independent projects with guidance from the instructor. You are welcome to come to have fun exploring clay and its unlimited possibilities. Instruction in our range of glazes and how to use them is part of the class.

Tim’s Clay Play Therapy Night with Tim Jarvis
Instructor Tim’s classes emphasize on wheel throwing for all skill levels but if the wheel is not for you, then we have many options! Clay slab building, Extruder built or just plain Hand building. Students will always learn about Raku firing. Tim’s classes are not constrained to a class plan rather he guides the students to work on the projects that they choose.

Students will have gained skills and proficiency in drawing from observation and in simple perspective. Students will start with easy one-object still life and advance step-by-step through more complex projects, including working with different media. Some projects will be from direct observation, while others will be drawn from the imagination.

Wabi-Sabi with Bobbie McMillan
Come and enjoy the magic of working in clay. Discover the possibilities of this plastic-pliable medium. Why Wabi-Sabi? Because the forms do not have to be perfect to love them! Primarily a throwing class for intermediate students with some hand-building projects. Surface enrichment, glazing, and firing techniques will be explored.

Figure Sculpture
Live models are essential for the figure sculptor. All levels students can enjoy step-by-step instruction in building an armature and creating a full figure or portrait ceramic sculpture. We emphasize classical realism as well as modern semi-abstract trends.

Sunday Sketches with Madeline Sweeney

In these creative summer sessions, local practicing and aspiring artists can workshop their life drawing skills in a studio environment. Come for the entire series or just drop-in. Each week will have unique postures, and participants determine the medium(s) they want to sketch/draw/paint/illustrate with in class. A live model will be present, easels and drawing boards provided, but participants should bring their own materials. Moderator will be present for timekeeping, posture changes, and organizational flow; they will provide individual guidance when needed but no overall class instruction. Some experience recommended, but beginners with drawing experience are welcome.
$15 per session
